I was made for loving you... in the dark!

Call me crazy, but lately I've been homesick for a good old fashioned Heavy Metal horror film. The above clip is from 1986's "Trick or Treat". Ozzy Osbourne makes a small cameo as a televangelist:



I can totally see this movie as a good remake for the 21st century. Can you think of anything scarier than a 1980's metal legend come back from the dead to kill teenagers of today? Sammi Curr needs a revival. He's way better than Freddy or Jason. Whaddo ya say, rockers?

The band I present to you this evening is so hot and new, they don't yet have a video post, but the music is killer and recommended by yours truly and each of the members are no strangers to the music industry.  Billed as the next big Swedish supergroup, the sound is meloncholy metal gothic melody with sharp-edged bitter sweet vocals by the lovely Sara Löfgren who is every inch a goth Joan Jett!  Those We Don't Speak Of, also known simply as T W D S O, has got to be heard to be believed.  Remember, you heard about them here first!

I was going to post lyrics here, but none have been put out online.  I guess you'll have to check out the ablum, "Nine Destinies and a Downfall" -- so far the download has been worth it for me.  SIRENIA are kinda like ABBA meets Evanesence!  But much, much cooler.  Monika Pedersen's baby voice has never sounded better backed up by those guitars.

Tonight's song was created by infamous '70s rock band KISS, covered now just as infamously delicious by a band with a lead singer who has a smooth-as-dark-chocolate voice sure to get you Seduced by Suicide.  It's romantic black gothic rock.  Give a listen and look and try not to bite the person next to you out of pleasure!

Vivian (Agnes Bruckner) and Aiden (Hugh Dancy) are inter-species starcrossed lovers in tonight's chocolatity delicious werewolf love story...

BLOOD AND CHOCOLATE

It doesn't have much gore, but it's got enough drama to lure you into a heat. Blood and Chocolate's title alone should indicate that you'll be in for a good time. But if you're looking for a lot of action, you're going to howl in vain. Blood and Chocolate is a werewolf soap opera. Every actor in this flick is beautiful, every scene is filled with eastern European elegance, and even the dank of the forest in which these werewolves hunt gives you the sense that it is perfect. The werewolves of Blood and Chocolate are a race of shapeshifters far more powerful than human beings, yet for some reason they aren't ruling the world like other people are and don't seem to put a large effort out to rule it anyway. They are animals of a strictly underworld society, running in the shadows, and hunting once in a blue moon, or pretty much whenever their leader catches a bad guy worthy enough to murder. Our heroine, Vivian, is a pretty little blue blood in the pack, destined to become the next wife of the alpha male, but she's gonna fall for the sensitive artist type instead of that big bad wolf!  Frankly, I don't see why.  Sure the artist guy is cute, but that alpha male, Gabriel (played lushiously by Olivier Martinez) is not the kind of guy I'd want to kick out of bed.

 

What makes the movie even more predictable is Vivian doesn't seem to want to stick with her werewolf roots. She was brought up American, you see, and has that independent spark that makes her want to wrestle with boys inappropriate for her. Vivian is like a sort of Cinderella character, except her ugly stepsisters are not-so-ugly horny stepbrothers who like to chase after her sexy body every chance they get.  I don't blame her for running into cute little seemingly harmless Aiden's arms, he's got skills they don't possess.  

 

Blood and Chocolate also seems to have more than one plot line going, the direction of the movie could've focused exclusively on hero Aiden or on Vivian but tends to switch back and forth between them like a game of Pong.  I could see this story better played on a television screen than on the big screen, perhaps then we could've gotten to see more of the other characters who are equally as charming and interesting.  I also wanted to see more of Aiden's artwork and more intimate scenes in Vivian's life.  Both main characters are loners fused together by love, but everyone's so pretty in this movie, it makes you wonder why they bother being alone in the first place.  All of the characters should've been out in the woods having some big bloody orgy -- if you're a werewolf, wouldn't you want to get some action?  There are times you want to slap Vivian for being such a prude. 

 

The shapeshifting scenes are done in a low budget, mystical way.  There's no "I see a bad moon arisin'" special effects like those found in American Werewolf in London.  Vivian and her pack don't even change into some kind of mutant wolves, when they sniff blood their eyes turn on like Christmas lights, they spring into the air in a blurry puff of rainbow-colored smoke, freeze so we can get a full 360 degree view of them, and by the time they land, then suddenly they're wolves.  When they change back into human form, they are naked, so there's plenty of bare bottoms and breasts bouncing for your pleasure and no greasy mystery residue like the kind found in Cat People, these shapeshifters are magical.

 

I give this one two breasts uplifted, cups runneth over!  Watch it with your girlfriends and, like   sebastiana suggests, it's best watched when you eat more chocolate than you should before watching it!
